Sample preparation for medium-energy experiments may include grinding, tableting and other pretreatment processes.
For powder samples, finer particle size is preferred. Most samples require approximately 20 minutes of grinding.
For powder tablets used in direct measurement, the material shall possess good flowability, lubricity and compactibility. The tablets shall be circular with a diameter over 6 mm and a thickness of around 1 mm.
Samples for nano-CT are mainly prepared via FIB or particle loading into capillaries.
