1. Single-Crystal Experiment
Recommended single-crystal size: typically greater than 15 µm.
It is recommended to use SPINE-type magnetic sample holders and collect the crystal with a crystal loop. The standard length of the metal support rod for the holder is 18 mm.
2. Powder Diffraction Experiment
Powder samples should be sealed in glass capillaries or Kapton film. These can be attached to the metal sample holder or fixed with plasticine or other materials on the holder base.
The sample should not be too thick, as this can affect diffraction signals due to self-absorption. Recommended sample thickness: less than 3 absorption lengths, and sample diameter should be less than 5 mm.
3. GIWAXS Experiment
Recommended sample size: 15×15 mm or 20×20 mm.
The sample substrate can be a glass slide or silicon wafer.
4. XAFS Experiment
Common requirements:
Samples should be as uniform as possible in terms of composition, thickness, and particle size, with a particle size < 400 mesh.
Recommended sample diameter: > 8 mm.
For Transmission Mode Samples:
Avoid light leakage effects:
1)No light leakage, with no cracks or holes in the irradiated spot.
2)The total absorption thickness should ideally be between 0.5 and 3. It should not be <0.1 or >7.
3)It is recommended to use pellet pressing for sample preparation, ensuring the sample remains intact.
For Samples Not Suitable for Transmission Mode:
If transmission mode is not suitable, fluorescence mode should be considered, ensuring there is no self-absorption effect. Recommendations:
4)For thick samples, when the total absorption length uT > 1, the effective absorption concentration uA/uT < 10%.
5)For high-concentration samples, the absorption jump should be <0.1.
