Before your experiment
Users must submit an Experiment-safety Form (generally submitted one week in advance), complete individual safety training, and pass a safety assessment before they can receive the relevant credentials and materials. The safety training is valid for 12 months. Users can collect their user card and dosimeter from a self-service kiosk, and after wearing them, they may enter non-radiation controlled areas (such as the comprehensive office building, comprehensive laboratory building, main experimental hall, etc.). With the user card, they can also check into the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) Guest House. The user card and dosimeter are for personal use only and must not be lent to others. Additionally, users can prepare a sample information sheet in advance according to the provided template to facilitate the importation of sample information.

The self-service terminal for user experiments is located at the south gate guard room of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (239 Zhangheng Road). Upon arrival at the facility, users can query the information of the current experimental project, confirm (or add) the experiment personnel information, print the user card, and collect a personal radiation dosimeter from the self-service terminal. They can then obtain an access card from the guard room, which allows them to enter the experimental hall directly to conduct their experiments. After the experiment, users must return the personal radiation dosimeter to the self-service terminal and fill out the Experiment Execution Status Form for the current experiment through the User Project Management System, thereby completing all the procedures for the experiment. Solid-state detectors require prior reservation, and without a reservation or if the reservation is not approved, the beamline station has the right to deny usage. Special experimental methods such as fast scanning and grazing incidence do not accept temporary applications.
