The research team from Prof. Huang Xiaoli of Jilin University and Prof. Cui Tian of Ningbo University successfully stabilized the hexagonal phase LaH10 to 146 GPa by inducing aluminum atoms, a pressure theoretically predicted to be above 420 GPa. Hexagonal-phase hydrogen-rich compound superconductor with superconducting transition temperature exceeding 220 K has been obtained for the first time, extending the current cubic high-temperature superconducting phase to the hexagonal phase system. Relevant research was published in National Science Review under the title “High-temperature superconductivity up to 223 K in the Al stabilized metastable hexagonal lanthanum superhydride”.
