The proposal of the single-atom catalysis mechanism

Date :2024-12-16

Zhang was the first to report the Pt₁/FeOₓ single-atom catalyst internationally and, based on this, proposed the concept of "single-atom catalysis." Single-atom catalysts exhibit many characteristics distinct from supported nanoparticle catalysts, such as maximal metal utilization, maximized metal-support interfaces, uniform active site composition, and the potential to bridge homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. As a result, they demonstrate excellent activity, selectivity, and stability for specific reactions and have become a research hotspot in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. This approach not only enables the precise synthesis of single-atom catalysts but also provides new insights for studying catalytic active sites and tuning catalytic performance.
